Love at First Sticker: Part 2

We first met Chris and Connie when they shared their engagement story (Chris proposed using a personalized banana sticker!) in Love at First Sticker. Now, the wedding is only a month away and we’re excited to share this update, from Connie herself, on their wedding planning.

For years, I’ve attended weddings and watched as happy couples start their new lives together. In amazement I gazed upon the beautifully dressed wedding party as they marched down the aisle. The gorgeous flowers, the candles, the perfectly placed bows on each chair and don’t get me started on the scrumptious catered meal!

On April 8, 2010 I found the best banana sticker of all time and thus began the wonderful journey of being engaged. I pictured in my head a very simple ceremony. Chris and I knew we didn’t want a large wedding; we wanted something simple yet elegant.

The first step was to make the guest list. At first, we only wanted about 30 people. This number quickly changed and soon we had about 150 people. No problem though. With the guest list in place, we were free to start planning. Let the fun begin!

We bought the magazines, we surfed the web and we read the books. You know what we learned? Not only is it a lot of work, but you have to pay for stuff too! Funny how after all these years, no one told us about that part.

Okay, no worries. We set up payment plans and cut corners every where we could. The end result will be a ceremony in his brother’s backyard, inside a gazebo. The house is in the country so it is somewhat secluded and will be beautifully landscaped. After the ceremony, family and friends will head to the reception hall inside an old Opera House. The meal will be catered by a local restaurant with great food. For dessert, a three layered cake made by Chris’s mother and a candy buffet for all to enjoy.

We’ve had our fair share of rough spots along the way. For instance, we thought registering for gifts would be the best part. Turns out, we were wrong. We actually found ourselves bickering over what to register for!

Despite our differing tastes in flatware, we are excited about the big day. With just over one month to go, we still have a few things to take care of but we are confident it will all come together.

We’ve been told not to worry about the things that go wrong because in the end, we will be the only ones to notice. Honestly, as long as I have Chris by my side, I know September 18, 2010 will be the happiest day of my life.

~Connie

Stay tuned for a post-wedding update in a month. Best of luck Connie and Chris! We can’t wait to see the pictures.
