There is no banana lover more famous than the King himself: Elvis Presley. Sometimes called "The Elvis" or "The Elvis Sandwich," a peanut butter and banana sandwich is a classic celebrity recipe.

“I'll Have The Elvis”

In tribute to the icon, Elvis fans across the country eat their peanut butter and banana sandwiches just like he did: fried in bacon fat. Many restaurants around The King’s Memphis estate serve the Elvis in his honor and to the delight of fans making the pilgrimage to Graceland, Elvis’ historic estate.

Not a Fan of Bacon?

Of course, you don't have to fry your peanut butter and banana sandwich in bacon fat in order to enjoy this sandwich. There are other ways to make it and still stay true to the concept. For instance, if you prefer sweet to savory, try adding honey instead. Perhaps you've cut bread out of your diet: graham crackers are a perfectly good alternative. It's crunchy, delicious and different, and yet still true to the main idea of peanut butter and bananas sandwiched between two flat pieces of food.

Elvis, we thank you for not just the music, but for bringing thousands of people together with your favorite sandwich!
