When Chris decided to propose to Connie, he knew he had to make it special. With her passion for collecting Chiquita Banana stickers in mind, he devised a plan. On a normal Thursday afternoon, he proposed on a personalized banana sticker with, “Connie Will You Marry Me.” Now, the wedding bells have finally rung for Chris and Connie and they’re back to share with us the final chapter of this romantic engagement story.
Love at First Sticker: The Wedding
By Connie
The final story from Chris and Connie marks the beginning of a wonderful novel that will be written for years to come. After receiving a creative proposal from Chris, we set out to plan our Big Day. On September 18, 2010 we exchanged vows in front of our closest friends and family.
Now, when an engagement proposal involves a banana sticker, it’s hard not to include bananas in the wedding. There was talk of putting the wedding party in banana costumes but we thought that might be taking things too far.
Instead of costumes, we decided to add a little banana flare to the reception. All of our guests received a small jar full of banana shaped candy. Each jar was labeled with the newest addition to my sticker collection. If the banana candy was not enough to satisfy the sweet tooth, guests could fill their own bags of candy from our extravagant candy buffet. Each candy bag came with an extra large version of our banana sticker for guests to keep.
The whole day was wonderful. Looking back on it, all I can do is smile. To make this story more entertaining, I suppose I should highlight things that went wrong or things that I’d like to change. The problem with that is that there’s just nothing more to say other than that it was perfect!
I hope people have enjoyed reading our stories and that everyone will start to pay more attention to their banana stickers.... you never know what you might find!
A big congratulations to Chris and Connie from all of us here at the EatAChiquita.com Blog. We wish you the best of luck and many sweet, banana-filled moments for many years to come. You can read more about their engagement and wedding planning here, it’s a sweet one!
